The 34-year-old Serbian midfielder’s current deal does not expire until June 2014, but he has realised there is no room for him in the side.

Stankovic already had one meeting with director Marco Branca and is expected to have another next week to finalise the termination by mutual consent.

Dubai club Al Wasl is interested, but so are his former employers Red Star Belgrade, whose official name is Crvena Zvezda.

“I have three dreams for the transfer market: Milos Ninkovic, Marko Pantelic and Dejan Stankovic,” said Vice-President Slavisa Kozeka.

“I don’t know how possible these names are for us, but we will talk to them soon.”

Stankovic grew up in the Red Star Belgrade youth academy, then played for the senior side before joining Lazio in 1998.

He has been at Inter since 2004.
