Deki is now assistant manager to ex-Nerazzurri Coach Andrea Stramaccioni at the Stadio Friuli.
“The rapport with Strama was great from the first words we exchanged at Inter. It was immediate,” confessed Stankovic to Udinese Channel.
“We also had a row, but that just helped cement our rapport. We understand each other straight away. Stramaccioni is mad about football, a professional whose brain goes at 300km per hour. He reads the game well and I’m sure he will have a great career.”
The former midfielder retired in July 2013, having won five Scudetti, four Coppa Italia trophies, four Italian Super Cups, the Champions League and Club World Cup with Inter.
“Do I miss playing? In all honesty, no. I’ve given a lot to this sport and received a great deal too, but now I am concentrated on this new line of work.
“Of course this game at San Siro is going to be special, as I was at Inter for 10 years. There will be so many different emotions on Sunday night, back in the stadium where I engaged in so many battles.
“It was an important era for me and for Inter, as we wrote history and I’ve always thanked Massimo Moratti for giving me the chance to wear this jersey.
“I’ll be pleased to see the Nerazzurri colours again, but when the referee starts the game, it will be all about Udinese. You’ll see a different Udinese to the one that lost to Milan, as we’ll try to play our game and snatch a few points.”
It’s also a reunion with Inter Coach Mancini, who was also Stankovic’s teammate at Lazio.
“I was first his teammate, then his player. I learned so much from Mancini. He’s a great Coach and the Inter lads are very fortunate to have him by their side.”
