After Dejan Stankovic offered his resignation to Sampdoria, the two parties met and have decided to move forward together for the remainder of this season.

The Blucerchiati were thoroughly outclassed by Fiorentina in their clash on Sunday, slumping to a miserable 5-0 defeat in Florence. After the match, the Serbian coach offered to resign, but the club were unsure and scheduled a meeting with him today to discuss his future.

Stankovic took over at Sampdoria back in October and has failed to turn the club’s fortunes around in Serie A, with the team still sitting rock bottom of the league table with six games left to play. The Ligurian outfit sit 10 points behind 17th place Spezia.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Stankovic met with Sampdoria’s management today and the two parties mutually agreed to move forward together, at least until the end of the season.

They will try until the very end to ensure their survival in Serie A, starting with their next game against Torino on May 3rd.
