According to Sportitalia, Jeremie Boga has turned down a move to Leicester City just as Atalanta were trying to agree terms for a sale.

The approach was made on transfer deadline day and Atalanta seemed open to selling the former Sassuolo winger.

They were in the process of working out the final details of the format, so on loan with obligation to buy or a permanent transfer, when Boga reportedly slammed on the brakes.

There might still be time to convince him otherwise, as the deadline in the UK is at 23.00.

The 25-year-old left-sided winger has 10 senior caps for the Ivory Coast and was Atalanta’s club record signing from Sassuolo at €22m in January 2022.

However, he made only 23 appearances for La Dea, scoring two goals and providing an assist, and was not first choice for coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Curiously, Boga has effectively been replaced by Ademola Lookman, who was on loan at Leicester City last season, and purchased for €9m from RB Leipzig this summer.
