Sporting CP have defended their decision to sack Sinisa Mihajlovic after just nine days. “He’s never won anything as a Coach.”
One of Sousa Cintra’s first tasks as Sporting’s interim President was to dismiss Mihajlovic, who had been appointed by the club’s previous board, and the Portuguese made it clear the former Sampdoria, Lazio and Torino man was no big loss, while accusing him of ‘making mistakes’.

“He had a trial period of 15 days, so I won’t pay him €10m in compensation,” he told Record.
“As soon as he arrived, he started making mistakes. He wanted to change the location of our training camp and raise costs by €300,000.
“I have nothing against the Coach, but he’s never won anything as one, although I know he was a great player, who was good at free kicks and scored goals.”
