Morten Hjulmand is being closely followed by a number of top Serie A teams but Sporting CP are now working to snap up the Lecce captain.

The 24-year-old Dane joined the Puglian outfit in January 2021 in a deal worth just €170,000 and he’s grown into a key figure at the club, playing a crucial role in their push for Serie A promotion back in the 2021-22 season.

Hjulmand is now the Lecce captain, and his impressive growth has attracted the attention of multiple top Italian sides in recent months, including Milan, Roma, Lazio and Juventus.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Sporting CP have been in close contact with Lecce in recent days and are now closing in on a deal for Hjulmand.

The Portuguese side also need to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old Dane, who has one year left on his contract with the Puglian side. Last season, Hjulmand provided five assists across 36 total appearances for Lecce.
