“I was fine at Catania, and refused offers, but when Roma call you it’s impossible to say no,” the 31-year-old said as he was officially presented.
“It’s a quantum leap [from Serie B], being here is a dream come true. I’m very happy and proud to be wearing this shirt today.
“That’s the beauty of football, a week ago I was playing in Serie B, now I’m here.
“If Roma lose a game all Hell breaks loose, I think we’re a great team and I have no doubt we’ll fight for the Scudetto and the Europa League.
“I have no doubt whatsoever that the team will fight for the two targets which remain.”
The defender was embroiled in controversy last season, when Mario Balotelli accused him of racism.
No charges were ever brought as cameras didn’t pick up the alleged incident, and Spolli insists that he was innocent.
“Nothing happened,” Spolli reiterated.
“I’m not a racist. I don’t have to say anything more.”
