Aldo Spinelli, former President of Livorno and personal friend to Massimiliano Allegri, has suggested that the Juventus coach could leave his position at the end of the season in favour of a new adventure.

Spinelli, who used to own Allegri’s hometown team, gave an interview to TuttoJuve.com, during which he explained why he thinks that 2023-24 will be an important season for his friend.

He argued that the Bianconeri will have to redeem themselves after a difficult season on and off the pitch last time around, and that once the job is done, Allegri should leave, perhaps to take on a new job in a different country.

Firstly, Spinelli began by assessing Juventus’ performance in their Serie A opener against Udinese, whom they defeated 3-0 at the Dacia Arena.

“Juve played really well,” he said. “Udinese is never an easy opponent. Sottil is an excellent coach, with a guaranteed future at the top, I’ve known him well since he was my player.”

Then, talking specifically about Allegri, Spinelli claimed: “Allegri wants a redemption, then he will leave.

“He wants redemption, after a tremendously complicated year, then at the end of the season he will go away to Saudi Arabia, America or wherever it is that he will be required.

“This summer he received offers, but he has always been determined to stay to prove his worth. Football has become difficult, the figures being offered are impossible to match. Only the English teams can compete.”

  1. This has to be the dumbest comment I’ve ever heard and equally dumb to actually report on it. Do you really think after 1 game Allegri is thinking about next year. He may have a spectacular season.
