Leonardo Spinazzola revealed that he’s ‘very happy’ following the positive medical tests but revealed he’s not sure when he’ll return to training.

The 29-year-old Italian full back suffered an Achilles tendon rupture during Italy’s Euro 2020 match against Belgium last year and he’s remained sidelined ever since, slowly working on his recovery. He underwent surgery and latest tests revealed that he’ll be able to return to squad training in the near future.

Speaking to reporters at Fiumicino airport today, Spinazzola discussed his physical condition following the medical tests in Finland.

“Everything went well. I’m very happy.”

He touched on when he expects to return to squad training.

“Let’s see, we’re going step by step. At the moment we don’t know when I’ll be back training with my team-mates, we’re taking our time.”

Finally, Spinazzola discussed who he wanted to thank following his long recovery process.

“Everyone, to those who have been close to me, but it’s not over yet. I’m turning the page, one chapter is closed and we’re opening another one.”

The 29-year-old Spinazzola was one of the stars of the tournament at Euro 2020 with Italy last year, impressing in a number of games before suffering the Achilles tendon rupture. His return is eagerly awaited by Roma fans, who are hoping to find the same player upon his return.

  1. Yes I agree he would have been a tremendous help. Just look at the difference his absence made in the remaining Euro matches
