Napoli played their first pre-season friendly match under Antonio Conte, with goals from Leonardo Spinazzola, Walid Cheddira, Gianluca Gaetano and Cyril Ngonge, trying two tactical systems.
Victor Osimhen was originally named on the bench, but then it was confirmed that he was ‘not at the disposal’ of the coach because of fitness issues, having trained separately over the last few days.
Conte named a 3-4-2-1 formation with new signings Rafa Marin and Spinazzola in the starting XI.
Poor Pasquale Mazzocchi was denied by two huge saves from the goalkeeper of local side Anaune Val di Non before Spinazzola opened the scoring, unusually by cutting in from the right flank.
An entirely different XI came out for the second half and a new tactical shape too, in a 3-4-3 shape.
Cheddira earned and converted a penalty, before setting up Gaetano for the third goal.
Ngonge completed the 4-0 rout at the 73rd minute with a solo run.
Leo Ostigard’s header was kept out by a goal-line clearance and Gaetano saw another goal disallowed for a foul.
