There is bad news for Roma and Italy, as Leonardo Spinazzola has been diagnosed with a serious thigh injury, but Tammy Abraham and Nemanja Matic avoided damage.

The Giallorossi were beaten 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona by leaders Napoli last night and Jose Mourinho confirmed that Spinazzola asked to come off at half-time.

According to Sky Sport Italia, tests have shown that Spinazzola sustained a Grade I lesion to the flexor in his thigh.

This type of injury will require several weeks out and leaves Roma already short-staffed in a key area on the wings.

However, the positive news is that Abraham and Matic, who also limped off during last night’s game, will not require further tests.

This suggests the medical staff are confident it was only a little fatigue and there is no damage to the muscle.

There were particular concerns for Abraham, who had pulled up after a sprint clutching his right hamstring.
