Leonardo Spinazzola is delighted to be part of Italy national team and reveals he will be available in December.

Spinazzola’s UEFA Euro 2020 campaign ended in the quarter-finals as the Roma defender picked up an Achilles tendon injury during the game against Belgium on July 2.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery and was expected to remain out of action for six months.

The former Siena and Juventus left-back confirmed that he will resume training in November and will be available for competitive games from December.

“Mourinho and Mancini know I’ll return to training in November and I’ll be back on the pitch in December,” Spinazzola told SportWeek.

Spinazzola was one of Italy’s key players in the first part of Euro 2020. His performances were so impressive he was named in the Team of the Tournament. But was the secret behind the Azzurri’s triumph?

“A united dressing room is not enough to win. Everybody must always give their best, we can disagree sometimes, but if then we go out for dinner as we do, then it’s even more beautiful,” the defender revealed.

“It’s amazing to be part of his group, I’ve never seen anything similar, that’s one of the reasons why we dragged the Italians.”

Italy returned to action in the World Cup qualifies against Bulgaria on Thursday, but they were held to a 1-1 stalemate at Florence’s Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Spinazzola’s full interview will be released tomorrow.
