Leonardo Spinazzola was grateful to be named in the official UEFA team of EURO 2020, but pointed out ‘Giorgio Chiellini is missing.’

The Azzurri won the trophy on Sunday night at Wembley Stadium, beating England in a penalty shoot-out after the 1-1 draw.

Leonardo Bonucci scored the equaliser, which is perhaps why he was also included in the Team of the Tournament with Spinazzola, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jorginho and Federico Chiesa.

“It’s so satisfying being in the Top 11 of Euro 2020…” wrote Spinazzola on Instagram.

“There’s one missing, though: Giorgio Chiellini.”

Roma left-back Spinazzola only made four appearances in the competition, as he was rested against Wales and then tore his Achilles tendon in the quarter-final with Belgium.

He did, however, pick up two Man of the Match awards in those four games and was on track to be named Player of the Tournament.

Chiellini also sustained an injury during the second group game against Switzerland, missing the matches with Wales and Austria, but was otherwise ever-present in the Italy XI.
