According to Sky Sport Italia, the player was not always conscious when he was carried from the field at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
He was caught on the back of the head by accident by Christian Kouame during a three-way leap for the ball.
Marchizza went down holding his head and after several minutes of treatment, was stretchered off.
