Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano will reportedly decide his future today, with Sassuolo and Hellas Verona monitoring the situation at the Aquilotti.

The renewal of the contract is on the table and the new owners – the Platek family – wants to continue with Italiano in the dugout.

After the meeting yesterday, the definitive answer will arrive from the coach today, and Tuttomercatoweb claims patron Robert Platek has offered Italiano more say on the transfer market this summer.

The 43-year-old, who brought Spezia to the top fligth and then steered them to safety in their first season in Serie A, has a deal with the Aquilotti that expires in June 2022.

But reports in Italy believes there are many possible alternatives for the tactician born in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Hellas Verona and Sassuolo are both looking for new coaches, as Ivan Juric left Verona for Torino this summer and Roberto De Zerbi saw out his contract and moved to Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine.

Shakhtar confirmed they wanted Italiano, if De Zerbi had turned down the offer.

Now, Italiano has emerged as a candidate for the two vacant positions at the Bentegodi and the Mapei Stadium, and he will reply to the American owners at Spezia today.
