These Spezia vs. Atalanta predictions see two sides in dire need of points meeting at the Stadio Alberto Picci on Sunday. The visitors have been far from their best in recent weeks but face a side without a win in four games.

Spezia vs. Atalanta odds

1 – Atalanta to win – 1/2

2 – Luis Muriel to score anytime – 17/4

3 – Both teams to score – 8/11

4 – Over 3.5 goals scored – 6/4

5 – Atalanta to score a penalty – 7/5

Atalanta travel to face Spezia on Sunday with just three games remaining in the Serie A calendar. La Dea’s poor recent form has seen them win just one of the last six league games and as a result they find themselves out of the European places for the first time in four years.

Fortunately for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side they come up against a team in even worse form on Sunday. Spezia are on the back of three consecutive defeats and another loss this weekend could well see them go within four points of the relegation zone.

Despite La Dea’s recent form their squad has no shortage of quality and Gasperini’s side will be aware that this marks an opportunity for a valuable three points. Atalanta should, in reality, have no difficulty unlocking a Spezia defence that has conceded 63 goals this season and the visitors are our favourites to win on Sunday.

If they are to do so it is most likely to come curtesy of Luis Muriel with the Colombian coming into his own in recent weeks with six goal contributions in his last three games. The forward may well be deployed further forward against Spezia and is our tip to score anytime at the Alberto Picci.

Despite our prediction of Atalanta’s dominance, the Oribici are by no means invulnerable themselves. The visitors have not managed to keep a clean sheet in Serie A in any of their last six games whilst Spezia have scored in each of their last three. As a result, a bet on both teams to score on Sunday could well pay off.

Both teams have shown that they are capable of providing entertaining fixtures in recent weeks. Spezia’s last match saw the Aquilotti lose 3-4 to Lazio whilst Atalanta recently were held 4-4 by Torino. Neutrals will be hoping that Sunday’s encounter is similarly high-scoring and a bet on over 3.5 goals scored may be a shrewd move.

On the evidence of those two games our final recommended bet would be on Atalanta to score from the spot. La Dea’s draw benefitted from two penalties from Muriel whilst Spezia conceded one themselves against Lazio on Saturday.

Spezia team news

Jacopo Sala and Leo Sena are both approaching returns for Thiago Motta’s side but are unlikely to feature in Sunday’s game. Ebrima Colley’s continued absence means that the hosts are unlikely to make changes to the front line with Kevin Agudelo playing off Rey Manaj.

Atalanta team news

Raphael Toloi’s continued injury problems are likely to see the centre-back miss out at the Stadio Alberto Picco whilst Giuseppe Pezzella is also ruled out through injury. Mario Pasalic’s point-saving goal from the bench could see the midfielder handed a start on Sunday whilst Duvan Zapata’s continued poor form may see Luis Muriel pushed forward.
