There looks to be another managerial change in Serie A this summer, with reports Thiago Motta will leave Spezia over the next 48 hours and there are several candidates to replace him.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a decision has been made for the coach and club to part company after just one year together.

It had always been unlikely he would remain beyond the 2021-22 campaign, having secured their safety from the threat of relegation.

The 39-year-old coach has been linked with a possible return to Paris Saint-Germain, where he was a player and then a youth team boss.

Spezia earned 10 wins, six draws and 22 defeats in Serie A this season.

A contract termination by mutual consent is expected over the weekend.

There are several alternatives who can take over from Thiago Motta, including ex-Udinese coach Luca Gotti and former Empoli tactician Aurelio Andreazzoli.

An intriguing option would be Francesco Farioli, who is currently working for Turkish club Alanyaspor.

He had already been linked with Spezia last season before Thiago Motta took the job, but he had paperwork issues when it comes to the specific coaching badges needed in Serie A.
