Serie A side Spezia are still without their new coach, as negotiations continue with Leonardo Semplici after Luca Gotti was fired.

The club made the decision to fire Gotti last Wednesday after he amassed only four Serie A wins, seven draws and 11 defeats this season, as well as reaching the Coppa Italia Round of 16.

Semplici quickly emerged as the prime candidate, especially after Paulo Sousa signed for Salernitana instead, but talks have been dragging on for several days now without a resolution.

It is a race against time to have him in place for Sunday’s Serie A match against Udinese at the Dacia Arena.

According to Calciomercato.com, there is an agreement with Semplici, so the issues now are working out the payment of commission to his agent.

Spezia already played their defeat to Juventus at the weekend with Gotti’s staff in charge, officially Fabrizio Lorieri, though they have been working together on the touchline and in training.
