Spezia met with coach Vincenzo Italiano to discuss his future at the Aquilotti and the tactician has reportedly asked for time to decide.

ANSA reports owner Robert Platek laid out the plans for the upcoming year, envisaging an increase of salaries and promising Italiano greater power and possibilities on the transfer market.

The coach will be offered an extension of the contract and Italiano has asked for a few days to decide, before meeting with the club next week.

The news agency claims Spezia are optimistic and believe the coach will remain in Liguria, but in the meantime the 43-year-old is being linked with other Serie A clubs.

Sassuolo and Hellas Verona are looking for new coaches and Italiano has even been mentioned as a possible candidate for Lazio and maybe Bologna, should Sinisa Mihajlovic leave.

Italiano helped Spezia win promotion from Serie B and steered the club to safety in their first season in the top flight.
