Spezia are very active on transfer deadline day, signing Rey Manaj from Barcelona, Mehdi Bourabia, Leandro Sanca and Mikael Egill Ellertsson.

The Aquilotti’s biggest signing is probably Manaj, who arrives on loan from Barcelona with an option to buy for €3m.

He scored an impressive 14 goals in 22 competitive games for the Barcelona B team last season.

The 24-year-old forward is an Albania international with five goals in 24 senior caps and spent most of his career in Italy.

He started in the Cremonese and Sampdoria youth academies, moving on through Inter, Pescara and Pisa before heading to Spain with Granada, Albacete and the Barcelona B team.

Midfielder Bourabia has completed his move on loan with obligation to buy from Sassuolo.

Spezia also signed young forward Leandro Sanca from SC Braga on a permanent transfer, with a three-year contract.

Icelandic forward Mikael Egill Ellertsson has been purchased from SPAL and penned a five-year deal.

Sad at how italian clubs continually overlook its own local talent in favour of signing foreign players. Some things will never change it seems
