Spezia and Vincenzo Italiano will reportedly not continue together, even if the coach walks away from the negotiations with Fiorentina.

Fiorentina seemed set to appoint Italiano as their next head coach, but the talks have suddenly stalled.

The Viola are still looking for a new coach after Gennaro Gattuso was hired and then terminated his contract by mutual consent only 23 days later.

Fiorentina turn to Fonseca after Italiano woes

In Florence they had identified Italiano as the next option and seemed to be formalities away from announcing a move for the Aquilotti coach.

RAI Toscana then reported the talks between Italiano and Fiorentina had stalled and that Paulo Fonseca was now in pole position for the role.

Spezia have been looking at the possible replacements for Italiano in Liguria and Tuttomercatoweb reports a future with the Aquilotti doesn’t exist for Italiano.

Spezia to bring Farioli back to Italy?

The 43-year-old born in Karlsruhe, Germany, has a contract until June 2023, but Spezia continue talks with Francesco Farioli and have Eugenio Corini as another alternative.

The outlet claims Fiorentina will wait for another 48 hours, but Italiano seems set to leave Spezia this summer even if the negotiation with the Viola collapses.
