Sandro Tonali was named MVP in MilanRoma and Tuttosport even claimed that the midfielder should be given the captain armband ‘now and for the next ten years.’

The former Brescia man was rated 7.5 by all Italian sports papers and was the best player on the pitch at the Stadio Meazza yesterday.

“He can play in any role in midfield, he is a box-to-box player,” wrote La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He may not have [Andrea] Pirlo’s class, but he makes up for it with his late runs and his sense of position. Spectacular.”

Tuttosport claimed that the 21-year-old is a “fighter and a born leader” and should be given the captain armband now and for the next ten years.

The Italian midfielder shared the MVP crown with Mike Maignan on Il Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport with the goalkeeper also rated 7.5/10.

Tonali “dominated in the middle of the park,” wrote Il Corriere dello Sport, adding that his continuous growth will be “crucial also for the national team.”

Tonali joined Milan on an initial loan deal in 2020 and the Rossoneri made his move permanent over the summer. The Diavoli have invested €16.9m plus €3m add-ons securing his signature from Brescia.

  1. I think the ref should have sent him off for making abraham handball the ball with his mind control.

  2. He’s a Pirlo-Gattuso hybrid, so have the best qualities of both at such a young age. He’s worth 10x Dollarummas. A true Rossonero and already a fan favorite. I love this guy. He’s gonna be a legend.

    Forza Sandro!

  3. He’s 21. He’s already one of the best midfielders in the world. He can go on to be anyone he wants.
