Luciano Spalletti’s Italy will travel to the United States in March for friendly matches against Venezuela and Ecuador.

The Azzurri have booked their spot in the coming European Championships in Germany, which kick off on June 14, and find themselves in Group B alongside Spain, Croatia and Albania.

Coming into Euro 2024 as defending champions, Spalletti and Italy know the pressure is on to put on a strong run in the tournament after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

As announced today, the Italy national team will travel to the United States in late March for two friendly matches, facing Venezuela on March 21 at 21.00 UK time at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and Ecuador on March 24 at 20.00 at the Red Bull Arena, in the New York.

The Azzurri’s last trip to the United States came in June 2005, when they drew Ecuador 1-1 in a friendly at the Giants Stadium.

  1. There is no logic to playing these matches. The travelling is a nightmare in terms of distance etc. We should be playing European teams ahead of the euros also. It’s all about the money as usual.

  2. ITALY NEED TO PLAY EUROPEAN TEAMS, HOME OR AWAY, THAT WILL GIVE US A TEST, AS WE ARE PLAYING SOUTH AMERICAN TEAMS, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. WE NEED TO GET A GET WON BOTH OF THESE GAMES AND ANYMORE BEFORE WE START THE FIRST GAME AGAINST ALBANIA, TO BUILD UP CONFIDENCE IN THE SIDE. FORZA ITALIA.

  3. If it was against Brazil and Argentina then i would be ok with it by why fly out to the states to play Ecuador and Venezuela for . We need to test ourselves against top South American teams that we haven’t beaten since the 80s
