The Coach extended his deal with the club to June 2021 today after taking them to Champions League qualification.

“The situation remains the same, it just developed in a slightly different form, but was always solid,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is always pleasing to see affection from the fans, especially for the team, as they are the ones who must receive more love to give something back.

“Enthusiasm is natural pre-season, but if you don’t get results… When a Coach doesn’t bring home what everyone expects, clearly he has to leave, and it has always been that way. I am glad the club wanted to extend the contract.

“I don’t compromise and I am in the place where I wanted to be. I am in the locker room with people I would’ve chosen if I’d been playing a computer game.”

There is one missing figure in Spalletti’s dream team and that is Modric, as Real Madrid are refusing to let the midfielder go.

“You’d have to ask the director that, as I won’t say anything more when it comes to the transfer market. I am already very happy with what I have at my disposal. These are the players I’d want to have.”
