Luciano Spalletti believes Napoli deserved a penalty kick for a foul of Fikayo Tomori on Victor Osimhen: ‘But we don’t make noise as Milan do.’

The Rossoneri beat Napoli 1-0 at the Stadio Maradona last night, climbing to the top of the table. They have a two-point lead over Inter, who have a game in hand, while Napoli are now third, three points off the top spot.

During his post-match interview with DAZN, Spalletti praised Milan’s defending, saying that the Azzurri conceded an ‘avoidable goal.’

Spalletti warns Napoli after Milan loss: ‘If you can’t handle pressure…’

He didn’t mention a potential penalty incident in the first half when Tomori could have been punished for a foul on Osimhen. The Tuscan tactician was asked his thoughts on the missed penalty call and didn’t seem to be impressed by Daniele Orsato’s decision. Milan had also seen a penalty appeal rejected

“The Milan one wasn’t a penalty, but the one for Napoli was clear,” said Spalletti.

“The thing is, we don’t make noise, while Milan do,” he added, probably referring to Milan’s protests during the match.

  1. Newsflash: Coach A doesn’t think team B’s foul was a penalty but team A’s rigore was concrete.

    Also, water is wet

  2. Small man. Just take the loss and be quiet. Your team was outplayed at home.

Talking about noise, are we? If you had been dealt the injustices and the robberies Milan have faced this season you’d be signing like a lost monkey in the jungle.

  3. He’s right in saying that was a penalty for Napoli. I have no problem admitting it. Sometimes the decisions go with you, sometimes they go against.

The “noise” part is just sour grapes but if he thinks Napoli deserved even a point from that game, he is dead wrong.

  4. I am a Napoli fan and who cares. Napoli is given opportunity after opportunity and proceed to blow it every time. If Napoli just beat the bottom 10 teams in the league they’d be up 5 points even after this loss. At some point you have to stop making excuses and just take advantage of the opportunity given to you. I can already see how the season is going to end. The top teams continue to blow games they should win and Napoli will go into the final game down 2 points with a chance to win the Scudetto. Then they will proceed to lose to Spezia 1-0.
