Napoli’s appeal has been rejected and Luciano Spalletti will not be in the dugout for the Serie A match against Empoli this weekend.

The Partenopei coach was suspended for two games after the sending off in the 2-2 draw with Sassuolo.

He sat out of the 3-2 defeat to Atalanta but was back in the dugout when Napoli claimed a 3-2 win against Leicester City to advance in the Europa League.

Napoli appealed the two-match suspension, but the Sporting Court of Appeal rejected it and the disqualification stands for the Azzurri coach.

After one win in the last five Serie A games, Napoli have fallen from first to third in the League and are currently two points behind leaders Milan.

Inter also surpassed the Partenopei, as Spalletti’s side are going through a difficult moment due to injuries on several key players.

But Spalletti will be back in the dugout for the big game against leaders Milan on December 19, for the direct clash in the Scudetto battle.
