Luciano Spalletti explained how Napoli flew to a 2-0 win over Atalanta and had high praise for star winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The Partenopei took one step closer to their third ever Scudetto after securing another three points in a win over la Dea, who were unable to copy Lazio’s work in Campania as they fell in an overwhelming defeat.

Napoli have been one of the best teams in Europe this season and are in the conversation for possible Champions League winners, a sign of their incredible rise under Spalletti.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Spalletti first discussed the importance of Napoli’s win over Atalanta and how they secured that result.

“This win was the maximum. To bounce back from the point of view of the result with this quality of play was the maximum, the team played a great game against a tough opponent like Atalanta, physically the strongest of all, but also in terms of running in open spaces.

“They could have conceded something in tight dribbling, but we have different players. Apart from the aggression we shot the ball faster, with a few less touches but with quality, in order to hurt from the point of view of rhythm and speed.”

The Napoli coach then reflected on Kvaratskhelia’s incredible goal against Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

“Then there was that stuff there that Kvaratskhelia showed us, this time you could say it was a Maradona-esque goal. He was the god of football, but Kvara is on the right track.

“He has a frequency of touches in the spaces, you never know where he can go and he lays you on the ground, and out of the corner of his eye he can even assist a teammate.”

Napoli have an 18-point lead heading into the final 12 matches of the season, essentially confirming their status as Scudetto winners.

Focus on now on the Champions League, where they’ll face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie. Spalletti’s side comfortably secured a 2-0 win in the first match.
