Inter boss Luciano Spalletti played down facing an ‘angry’ Juventus on Saturday. “Just think how angry we are, not winning any trophies for seven years…”

Juve are being backed to show a response at San Siro after they lost to Scudetto rivals Napoli last weekend, but Spalletti made it clear the Nerazzurri were feeling the same, with no silverware since the 2011 Coppa Italia.

“We must be careful, we mustn’t create confusion about our objective,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We’re more interested in the three points for our objective than Juventus’. It’ll be great to see Nerazzurri scarves at San Siro.

“There will be lots of fans and affection, and that can make the difference. Our fans have been perfect since the turn of the year.

“The team are also doing well. they’re doing what they have to do and they’re ready for a crucial match.

“We can give something important to the fans, I expect something great [from the team].

“We’ve certainly missed out on some results this season, but generally we’ve got to know each other better and we’re at a good level.

“It’ll be a very tough game, but we’ve learned to discuss our flaws, and this represents growth and the fact that we’re ready to play for Champions League qualification.

“An angry Juve? Just think how angry we are, given we haven’t won any trophies for seven years…

“I’d take playing for the Champions League in our last game against Lazio. It means playing for access to the competition.

“It’s not a burden, we have the chance to play for something great, returning to the Champions League with all our love for this club, putting things right… We must make ourselves ready.

“Orsato the referee? No problem, we have quality referees. They improve our football, Juventus have almost always won [domestic trophies], and they have done because of their quality.

“I expect an important test, the team are growing, and if you try to hide in these games, you’re immediately found out. We must take responsibility.

“The essay of football reads, ‘you have to run and settle your differences before playing any eye-catching football.’”
