“I’ve always believed in the Champions League because we’ve been targeting it since the start of the season,” said Spalletti in his Press conference.

“Lazio have the advantage of being able to register two out of three results, but we can see the objective and it is within reach.

“I read people discussing who deserves the Champions League more or less than other teams, but who says Lazio deserve it more than us? Their performances, the number of times we hit the woodwork?

“Anyone who says that either hasn’t seen our games or doesn’t know what happened throughout the campaign, as there were so many matches where we deserved more points.

“These lads reacted to difficult times, used their willpower to bend circumstances in their favour and got back on track. I say the players deserve to be here, because I saw how they work and the love in the locker room.

“Clearly, there’s a big difference between the most exciting club competition in the world and the Europa League, but it’s still an important trophy.

“Tomorrow evening there will be either great excitement or great disappointment, but the work has been done to lay the foundations.

“At the end of the day, both Lazio and Inter earned their right to challenge for the Champions League place.”
