Edin Dzeko “will be Roma’s centre-forward” if “he keeps up this attitude” says Coach Luciano Spalletti.
The Bosnian joined from Manchester City last summer, but endured a difficult first season in Serie A, scoring just eight goals in 31 appearances.
“I can only evaluate his desire to stay at Roma,” Spalletti noted in a Press conference.
“Last year I tried to help him a lot, now I’m watching what he’s doing. He needs to have the desire to be part of Roma.

Spalletti’s contract expires at the end of the current season, but the tactician is not concerned.
“Yes, my contract expires at the end of this season and I don’t have an automatic renewal. That doesn’t mean this will be my last year.
“We’ll see if this will be my first [full] season or my last, I don’t want to feel comfortable, I want to feel fired-up and I want the players to know how we’ll play next season.
“I want to do well, because I want to stay. We have to work in a professional manner, because above all at Roma there are certain expectations.
“The contract is more for you than it is for me. For me it doesn’t work that way, I don’t have to look at what’s going on behind things, I have to work well.
“It’d be easy for me to sign a long contract, but then it could end like last time.”
Wojciech Szczęsny spent last season on loan with the Lupi, and Spalletti confirms that the club are trying to bring him back from Arsenal.
“The goalkeepers [Alisson and Bogdan Lobont] are both strong, we still don’t have Szczęsny.
“We have two strong goalkeepers, so we’ll see their reaction but that’s always an advantage. We’re working for Szczęsny, for now we have Lobont.”
Kevin Strootman is ready to return after a series of knee injuries, can he be a leader for the Giallorossi?
“It’ll take a lot of leaders, because the League is difficult,” Spalletti replied.
“There must be a lot at Roma, we’re looking for other leaders. The lad needs a run of games, and he won’t be at his maximum quality for those.
“He needs to play, this continuity of training can help him. Strootman is strong though, very strong.”
