Luciano Spalletti insists he ‘doesn’t need to clear the air with anyone’ after reports he called Simone Inzaghi over how to talk to ultras leaders.

There were raids and a series of arrests made within the Inter and Milan ultras groups last week, investigating their links with organised crime as well as how much the clubs may or may not be inadvertently allowing this to happen.

In response to news Inzaghi had spoken on the phone to arrested ultras leader Marco Ferdico in a request for more Champions League Final tickets, Spalletti had noted he would’ve hung up on him.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that the Italy coach had called Inzaghi to ‘clear the air’ and reassure that it was not a personal attack on him or Inter.

However, when TG1 interviewed Spalletti ahead of tomorrow’s Nations League match against Israel and asked about it, the CT brushed it off.

“I do not need to clear the air with anyone. I only replied to a question on how I behave in certain situations.”

The coach was also asked about the protests that will be staged outside the stadium in Udine before kick-off.

“We go to play the game in the hope that we can convince more people, because I believe there are many Israelis who don’t want war and we must keep trying to convince people that this has to end,” he replied.
