Napoli have reached an agreement to extend the contract of coach Luciano Spalletti until the summer of 2025 according to reports in Calciomercato on Sunday morning.

The news comes after Spalletti sat down for a meeting over dinner with President Aurelio De Laurentiis and CEO Andrea Chiavelli on Friday evening, during which the terms of a new extension were reportedly discussed.

The Partenopei had recently activated a clause in Spalletti’s current contract, which has automatically triggered an extension until the summer of 2024, as the 64-year-old’s deal was set to expire at the end of the current season.

According to Calciomercato, Spalletti has agreed to a renewal until the end of the 2024-25 season with a step-up in wages from €2.8m per season to around €3.5m, equating to an increase of roughly 25%.

Calciomercato also writes that the club have even marked out a date in the calendar to make the news official to the press, reported to be Thursday, May 18, when the club are also expected to announce their plans for their pre-season schedule.
