Another coaching conundrum has been resolved, with reports Inter gave Napoli the all-clear to announce Luciano Spalletti.

The Nerazzurri had to give permission, because Spalletti is still under contract with them until June 30, despite the fact he was fired in May 2019.

He has been on their payroll ever since and never successfully negotiated a termination by mutual consent.

With Max Allegri returning to Juventus, the announcement expected within hours, Napoli had to turn to their second choice, Spalletti.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, Inter have now given the all-clear for Napoli to sign Spalletti even before the contract expires on June 30.

He has agreed a two-year contract with the Partenopei, believed to be worth €2.8m per season.

Gennaro Gattuso had been determined to walk away regardless of their Champions League qualification, as his rapport with President Aurelio De Laurentiis had been very strained for months.
