SPAL are seeking reinforcements after reports Mohamed Fares will be out for at least four months with a knee injury.
The 23-year-old Algeria international was stretchered off during a pre-season friendly this week and Sky Sport Italia claim he has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
This type of injury generally requires four to six months to recover from, depending on the extent of the ACL tear.
SPAL have already lost one winger this summer, selling Manuel Lazzari to Lazio, so cannot afford another.

It’s reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that SPAL have asked Atalanta for the availability of Arkadiusz Reca or Milan’s Uruguay international Diego Laxalt.
The latter would be a real challenge, considering Laxalt is believed to be close to Parma.
