SPAL wingback Marco D’Alessandro faces several months on the sidelines after damaging knee ligaments.
D’Alessandro lasted just 24 minutes of SPAL’s 3-0 defeat to Sassuolo, and his club confirmed on Tuesday that tests showed an injury to the ACL in his right knee.
The 28-year-old only joined the Ferrara side from Atalanta over the summer, on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
He replaced Manuel Lazzari, who left for Lazio, but his stay at the Paolo Mazza could now be under threat.

Donati is a former Italy Under-21 international and is currently without a club after leaving German outfit Mainz.
