Italy legend Daniele De Rossi is set to take over at SPAL, and the Serie B side have confirmed his appointment with a brilliant Instagram post.

The former Italy and Roma midfielder was part of Mancini’s staff with the Azzurri but is now set to take his first coaching job.

Reports in Italy claim the 39-year-old has reached an agreement with the Serie B side owned by Joe Tacopina.

SPAL have not yet confirmed his appointment with an official statement but dropped a hint on Instagram with a picture referring to a famous tattoo on De Rossi’s right calf.

The Serie B side have sacked Roberto Venturato after collecting just nine points in the first eight games.

De Rossi will join other World Cup winners in the second division.

Fabio Grosso is in charge of Frosinone, Pippo Inzaghi is at the helm of leaders Reggina, Fabio Cannavaro was recently appointed by Benevento, while Gigi Buffon and Cesc Fabregas are still playing, for Parma and Como respectively.
