Southampton have reportedly made an offer worth €11m for Lecce and Denmark midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, the proposal is bring given some serious consideration by the Serie A side.

It would represent a massive profit margin, considering Lecce only picked Hjulmand up from Austrian club Admira Wacker for just €170,000 in January 2021.

He helped the Salentini earn promotion by winning the Serie B title that season and they are doing well this term too, sitting comfortably mid-table.

So far in the current campaign, Hjulmand has contributed four assists in 17 appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Although the 23-year-old has been called up to the senior squad, he is yet to achieve his first cap for Denmark after impressing throughout the various international youth levels.

While it is true that his current contract expires in June 2024, Lecce also have an option to extend it by another year.
