Roma could sack Eusebio Di Francesco if he doesn’t beat Genoa on Sunday, with Paulo Sousa reportedly ready to accept a six-month contract.

The tactician took them to third place in Serie A and the Champions League semi-final last season, but their form has stuttered badly this term, partly due to an injury crisis.

Despite already booking their place in the Champions League Round of 16, the Giallorossi are under pressure and widely expected to fire Di Francesco if he doesn’t change their domestic fortunes fast.

Despite already booking their place in the Champions League Round of 16, the Giallorossi are under pressure and widely expected to fire Di Francesco if he doesn’t change their domestic fortunes fast.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the primary candidate is Sousa, the former Fiorentina boss who is fresh from a dismal spell in China with Tianjin Quanjian.

The key could be Sousa accepting a six-month contract, so that Roma have the option of working on a more permanent solution over the summer.

Other options mentioned in the Italian media include Vincenzo Montella, ex-Real Madrid and Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui and even Scudetto-winning Fabio Capello with the aid of an assistant as caretaker manager.
