The former Italy Coach took over from Lorenzo D’Anna last month, but managed only one point from four games before abruptly resigning.

“It was a problematic exit and it did annoy me too,” confessed Sorrentino in the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

“He was so fired up when he arrived, but when he left, he said he wasn’t happy with himself. He teaches football, but had opposite ideas to ours. There wasn’t even the time to get to know and understand each other, seeing as he was only there for a month.

“It’s all in the past now.”

Domenico Di Carlo is Chievo’s third tactician of the campaign and they take on Napoli tomorrow afternoon.

“Every match is the potential for a possible victory and we can only give our best. Our tendency is to force other teams to play badly, so we’ll see what happens with Napoli.”

It is going to be tougher than ever for the Flying Donkeys to survive, seeing as they started the season with a three-point penalty due to financial irregularities.

“We are preparing for miracles. We proved before the break for international duty that we are alive and kicking, so we’ve got what it takes to keep doing it.

“Every game is worth one or three points, depending on how we approach it. Chievo have until now held out well against the big clubs, as we only lost to Juventus in the final minute in the opening round.

“Last season, we were leading 1-0 at the 89th minute, then Napoli beat us with two goals in stoppages. It was a crazy finale, but we learned from it.

“Hopefully, Napoli can be distracted by the many players who returned from international duty and the upcoming Champions League.”
