Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino publicly apologised after his howler. “If the win didn’t come, it was purely my fault.”

The shot-stopper gifted Bologna’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw today when he went to pick up a back-pass, realised at the last second he wasn’t allowed to and let the ball run under his body, which Manolo Gabbiadini deposited into an empty net.

“I made such a huge mistake today!!!” wrote Sorrentino on his Twitter account.

“If the win didn’t come, it was purely my fault. I APOLOGISE TO EVERYONE!!! We’ve got six finals now. Never give in!!”

This weekend’s results have left Palermo in joint-penultimate place with Genoa, while Siena clambered out of the relegation zone with a 3-2 victory in Pescara.
