Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino has called on his teammates to recapture the spirit shown against Lazio in facing their capital rivals Roma in Week 17.
The ‘keeper, who wears No 54 on his back, kept a clean sheet during the Mussi Volanti’s draw with the Aquile at the Stadio Olimpico last month.
Having successfully prevented Edy Reja’s men from even recording a single shot on target, Sorrentino has asked for the same commitment from his colleagues as they return to the stadium to face Luis Enrique’s Roma.

“Before the break against Lazio we had a great game, the best away from home in the year. However, unfortunately we could not win.
“Honestly, at one point I did fear that we would concede from the first shot, fortunately it did not come and we brought home a good point. I hope that on Sunday there is another game like this.
“Seriously, against the Giallorossi it will be very hard, they have many champions and are going through a period of significant form.
“Roma are a team that at any moment can give direction to their season, I hope that this does not happen against us.
“We hope to be facing a team that is still a little on holiday, even if the calibre of players we are facing does not allow us to think like this.
“We believe that to take away points from this game, we have to be perfect in Rome and hope that they are not the same.”
The 32-year-old shot-stopper then reflected on having failed to catch Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli’s eye.
“Unfortunately I have not received any positive signals, apart from teammates who have been pushing for my consideration.
“After the performance against Catania I did joke about being considered, but did not receive any signal. I just have to continue to talk on the field, [Prandelli] is the judge.”
