This transfer developed very quickly and Toro sealed it only after failing to agree terms with Empoli for Rade Krunic.
According to multiple sources, it is a €1m loan deal with €14m option to buy at the end of the season.
The option will become an obligation after a set number of appearances for the club.
Soriano has eight senior caps for Italy, but was born and raised in Germany to Italian parents.
He played for Bayern Munich’s youth academy, then Sampdoria, Empoli and joined Villarreal for €13.75m in 2016.
