The first leg ended 6-2 at Old Trafford, so the Giallorossi would need to win 4-0 in order to qualify.

“No, this absolutely will not be an easy match. We know the history of football and the history of Roma too,” Solskjaer told Sky Sport Italia.

“We’re fully prepared and want to win. We’re in a good position after the first leg, but still only halfway through. There’s energy in the squad, because we didn’t play at the weekend.”

Their Premier League match with Liverpool on Sunday was postponed after a fan protest turned violent, with supporters breaking into Old Trafford and injuring police officers.

Roma’s week has been dominated by news that Mourinho will take over from next season, replacing Paulo Fonseca.

“It’s big news, he was and is a great manager who gave so much to football. I am happy that he’ll be on the Roma bench, he’s a real winner,” added Solskjaer.

“I wish him the best. It’s a pity he left the Premier League, but I think he’ll do well in Serie A.”
