Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits the 1-1 draw with Milan at Old Trafford is ‘probably a fair result. That makes it harder, of course.’

The Rossoneri had 16 attempts on goal to six, and two goals disallowed, but Simon Kjaer’s last-gasp header on a corner cancelled out the Amad Diallo opener.

“Very disappointed to have conceded with one of the last kicks of the ball, or head. That makes it harder of course, but it was always going to be going down to the second game there, anyway,” Solskajer told BT Sport.

The second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 is at San Siro next Thursday and Milan have a precious away goal.

Solskjaer was asked about a possible Dean Henderson uncertainty on the Kjaer header, as it seemed to squirm through his fingers.

“I've seen him [Henderson] save them, but it's the structure that we lose. We dropped too deep and we get blocked off and they get the header on. We should have attacked the ball with the men we had there.

“We were a bit too slow with the possession. That's the learning we have to get into ourselves, we have to perform every single week. We're playing against good teams.

“Probably a draw is a fair result.”
