Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer is looking forward to having Diogo Dalot back at Old Trafford and says Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani are not guaranteed to start against Milan.

The Red Devils travel to San Siro to face the Rossoneri in the decider of the Europa League round of 16 tomorrow.

"We need to perform at our best level," the Red Devils' coach said at a press conference.

The Red Devils travel to San Siro to face the Rossoneri in the decider of the Europa League round of 16 tomorrow.

"We need to perform at our best level," the Red Devils' coach said at a press conference.

"They are a physical side with loads of energy, but these are the sort of games that we need to challenge and see if we can reach the next level.

"Of course, we are all wanting to win trophies at this club," he continued.

"But sometimes a trophy can hide the other facts of what is happening at the club. It's in the league position. You see if you're progressing really. Sometimes in the cup tournaments, you might be lucky; you might be unlucky with draws and games that are decided on different factors.

"But, of course, we're aiming to win; that's what's required in football and you're always aiming to win trophies.

"I think you have to say that when you see the culture of what's happening every day, I feel a lot of improvement in the everyday routine, the everyday work.

"The boys have taken on everything I want. It's for others to assess how much we've improved. We're 12 points ahead of where we were in the league this time last season.

"We need to win something and, if we play well, the trophies will return. But a trophy won't say' we're back'.

"We need the consistency of being top of the league and then winning some trophies. A cup can hide that you are struggling a little bit."

Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani have returned to the Red Devils' squad after recovering from injuries.

"There are a couple that we need to assess if they are available," Solskjaer said.

"Anthony Martial is a definite no-go. Apart from that, we are assessing the rest as we speak. Some might travel still needing to confirm they are available still."

Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot started against the Red Devils last week and Solsjkaer is impressed by his development in Milan

"The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit," he said.

"He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here and was unfortunate with injuries.

"Now he's kept fit all season; he's been available for them. He's playing at a big club, big expectations and a great history of the club, so it's been a good year for him.

"So, of course, I've been very pleased with his development this season, and he's our player and we're looking forward to having him back."
