Romelu Lukaku’s incredible comments to Sky Sport Italia have sparked a firestorm on social media, between Chelsea fans calling for him to be sold, to Inter supporters either accepting or rejecting his apology.

The centre-forward forced his move to Stamford Bridge over the summer for €115m, but has struggled to make the same impact that he had at San Siro under Antonio Conte.

Lukaku used the interview with Italian television to confess he was “not happy with the situation” at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, regretted the way he left Inter and assuring he would love to play for the Nerazzurri again, but “not at the end of my career.”

Lukaku expresses Chelsea regrets and Inter reunion hopes

Inevitably, the comments went viral in both Italy and England, prompting some very different reactions.

Almost all of them have been negative, though, as Chelsea fans believe he disrespected the club and Tuchel, while the majority of Inter supporters feel the apology is too little, too late.

Despite winning the Champions League last season, Tuchel is by no means solid in his role and that has been pointed out.
