Wesley Sneijder hasn't given up hope of winning the Scudetto with Inter this season despite a poor start to the campaign in Serie A.

The treble winners currently lie fifth in the standings, seven points adrift of League leaders Milan.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sneijder said: "Look at the fact we are coming off two wins in a row.

"Now beating Lazio is what counts. Three wins would be super.

"It's clear that now we don't want to think [about winning the Scudetto], but we certainly want to win it.

"Beating Lazio would also mean another thing: we could reduce the seven-point gap with Milan and go to the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi calmly."

Sneijder was then asked to make his case for winning the Ballon d'Or.

"The treble, five goals at the World Cup and the Final… I hope they take the entire season into account.

"I would like to win it as did Cruyff and Van Basten. I would like to be voted the best in the world."
