Former Inter attacker Wesley Sneijder thinks Italy ‘are the favourites to win’ Euro 2020 this summer.

The 37-year-old spent four years at Inter and helped the Nerazzurri win a historic Treble in 2009-10.

Sneijder retired in August 2019 and was capped 134 times by the Netherlands, scoring 30 international goals in the process.

The former star played in three different European Championships from 2004 to 2012 and this time he feels Italy are capable of going all the way.

“For me, Italy are the favourites to win the title,” Sneijder told NOS. “They play convincing football and have made a lot of progress.”

Italy didn’t qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but have since appointed Roberto Mancini as their CT and turned things around at Coverciano.

The Azzurri are unbeaten in 30 games and haven’t conceded in 11 games ahead of Saturday’s last 16 clash against Austria.
