Chris Smalling praises the ‘team spirit’ shown by Roma to complete the comeback and stun Inter at San Siro. ‘We have big objectives to aim for.’

The Giallorossi showed great determination to turn the game around after Federico Dimarco’s opener, equalising with a Paulo Dybala volley before Chris Smalling nodded in Lorenzo Pellegrini’s free kick.

This 2-1 result could be decisive in the Scudetto race, as Inter have now lost four of their eight Serie A games this season and fall further off the top spot.

“I am very happy with this victory. This game is too important for us, we must continue like this because we go again on Thursday,” Smalling told DAZN in Italian.

“Everyone fought to the last minute, there is great team spirit here.”

Smalling is a defender, but has become extremely dangerous from set plays, such as this evening’s free kick.

“I hope that I can continue to score more goals. It’s not just 11 players, the whole squad is very strong this season, because we have big objectives to aim for.”

Did he salute his former teammate Edin Dzeko at the final whistle?

“Of course, he’s my friend.”
