Roma‘s Chris Smalling and Stephan El Shaarawy have returned to group training, so they will be available for Sunday’s Serie A match against Empoli.

Sky Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport report the defender and the winger trained with the group today, so they will travel to Empoli on Sunday.

Smalling has played 16 games with the Giallorossi this term but has almost missed as many (15) due to physical issues.

El Shaarawy missed seven of Roma’s last nine matches across all competitions with calf problems.

José Mourinho’s side sits seventh in Serie A with 35 points in 22 matches.

They qualified for the Coppa Italia quarter-finals by beating Serie B Lecce 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico last night.
